We have been working with the Marches Skills Provider Network, University of Wolverhampton, JCP, school representatives, Careers and Enterprise Company and Chamber of Commerce to organise the Herefordshire Skills Show 2019.
The Skills Show will be held on 3 July 2019 at Hereford Racecourse 12pm to 7.30pm. The show will be open for an hour before this for young people with Autism to attend.
The Skills show is aimed at schools and will also be open to the public in the evening. Attendees will be able to receive expert advice and guidance from local businesses and training providers, have ‘hands on’ practical experience at over 60 stands and have 1:1 conversations with employers, current apprentices and further education and training providers. Representatives will provide advice and guidance on all education and training and career development opportunities available across the county including Apprenticeships, Supported Internships, workplace training etc. all with a real focus on actual and available jobs.
Supported by Careers and Enterprise Company funding that we receive, the event is already proving popular, from responses received so far from employers and schools that have been approached during the planning stage. We are anticipating approximately 60 stands covering a wide range of job, career, training and support opportunities. We have requested all stands be interactive and inspirational.
The Hereford Racecourse venue is proving to be ideal for the first Skills Show in Herefordshire. We are maximising all space available inside and outside of the venue and also the marquee.
Funds will also be used to facilitate a Networking Presentation/Briefing breakfast prior to the event for all participating employers, providers and supporting organisations.
A bid is also being submitted by our local NCOP representative for funding to support transportation for year 9 students for those schools eligible.
We would like you to support and promote the Skills Show. We are hoping that it is successful and that it becomes a valued bi-annual event.
We will keep you informed of progress. In the meantime if you would like further information please do not hesitate to contact Lisa Davies firstname.lastname@example.org
